Xi: I will put aside my own well-being for the good of my people
"I will put aside my own well-being for the good of my people." This is a statement made by Chinese President Xi Jinping when answering a question from Roberto Fico, president of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, in Rome on March 22.
The words have gone viral online in China and won applause from the public.

"Serving such a large country, I feel the great responsibility and work arduously. I will put aside my own well-being for the good of my people. I would be selfless to devote myself to the development of China," said Xi when Fico asked how Xi felt when he was elected president of such a large country as China.
Since 2012, the Communist Party of China led by Xi Jinping has been pushing to deepen the country's reform, strictly cracking down on corruption and building a community with a shared future for mankind.

The president once said that "our goal is to meet people's aspirations for better lives." He has visited old revolutionary base areas, border areas, remote mountain areas, campuses, farmers' markets and low-income families.
"A weightlifter can lift only 50 kilograms of barbell at first, but he can lift 250 kilograms after training. I believe that through my efforts and the common efforts of more than 1.3 billion people across China, we can shoulder this responsibility and build the country well. I am confident; so are the people," said Xi.
