Trump was responding to a question raised by a China Media Group reporter while meeting the press in the Oval Office together with Chinese Vice Premier Liu He.

The vice premier was leading the Chinese negotiating team for the 9th round of China-US trade talks, which was held from Wednesday to Friday in Washington.

The U.S. president said that "a global responsibility" shared by the U.S. and China is to a certain extent a big reason why the two sides were meeting at the White House.
