A group of Chinese companies have formed an alliance in Beijing in a bid to build world-class brands and meet the rising demand for consumers for premium quality products.

The alliance aims to build on the advantages provided by the member's manufacturing prowess in order to achieve high-quality growth.

The Chinese diary giant Meng Niu Group is a member. The president of the company, Lu Minfang, explains why they've joined the new alliance.

"The strategic alliance for established brands provides an excellent platform that allows us to better build-up domestic brands. This will help accelerate the country's strategy of transitioning from made-in-China to create-in-China."

The move to establish the alliance was led by China Media Group. It was soon joined by hundreds of domestic enterprises, research institutions, universities, and industry associations.

Cui Baoguo is a deputy dean at a research institute at Tsinghua university. He said the move will help to increase the competitiveness of domestic brands in the global market.

"Quality and public praise are critical for brands. We aim to manufacturing products that are affordable and of good quality. We not only stress the amount but also higher quality. The companies will offer quality services for customers. That alliance will help Chinese enterprises to gain an edge when participating into global competition."

A recent report by the China Economic Information Service said the country's top-tier cities reported stronger spending when it comes to domestic products, and the enthusiasm for Chinese brands was robust among young people.

Friday marked the country's third Chinese Brands Day, which falls on May 10 each year. The annual day was developed to promote the growth of premium Chinese brands.
