China completes first seaborne rocket launch

China launched a Long March-11 carrier rocket from the Yellow Sea at 12:06 p.m. Wednesday. The rocket carries seven satellites into orbit about 600 kilometers above the Earth. This is China's first seaborne launch, according to the website of China National Space Administration.

The Long March-11 carrier rocket has a 'green' design, includes no dangerous substances, and poses no environmental threat to the sea.

Experts have done a series of trial tests ahead of the launch. Many cutting-edge technologies have been added to the rocket, including a flight-abort system.
