A post on the social media platform Weibo saying "China's national flag has 1.4 billion flag bearers" has gained over 5.4 billion views, reports CCTV News.

The post, which encourages netizens to share the post and affirm "I am a flag bearer", was originally posted by CCTV on August 4 in response to incidents in which protesters in Hong Kong were seen mistreating the national flag.

It was one of the most-search-for posts on Weibo for several days, and has been shared more than 10 million times.

The Hong Kong-born superstar Jackie Chan is among those who have expressed their love for the national flag. Another is a university student named Wang Yao, who said he is proud to be one of the flag bearers. He called any act that insults the national flag and violates China's national sovereignty should be condemned.
