A total of 32 rare parrots have been hatched in Shenzhen Safari Park after local customs cracked a smuggling case earlier this year.

Shenzhen Customs busted a smuggler who tried to sneak 224 parrot eggs, including macaw eggs and Amazon parrot eggs worth more than 163,000 U.S. dollars, across the border on March 19, according to Shenzhen Daily.

Some eggs had already broken because it was the hatching season for parrots.

The customs officers found that the smuggler had traveled across Asia, Europe, and North America over six days.

The eggs were transferred to a rescue center in Shenzhen after being seized by customs agents.
