A tourist caught trying to take a watermelon and a knife into Shanghai Disneyland has sparked controversy online.
Shanghai Disneyland recently sparked anger online after the park banned visitors from bringing in their own drinks and snacks. After millions of people criticized the park's policy online, on Friday Mickey Mouse announced that the park had changed its rules to allow some foods to be brought in, like bottled water, sandwiches, and candy.
But the discovery that someone had tried to bring in a watermelon, along with a bag of dumplings, rekindled discussion about what's acceptable to bring to the park. "Bringing in snacks is OK. But I can't understand why someone would bring food like watermelon, dumplings, instant noodles, and even a small hot pot for one," said one comment online. Another person questioned how the visitor intended to dispose of the leftover watermelon.
Some people also complained that the tourist tried to take a knife into the park, saying that it is potentially dangerous to children playing at the theme park.
