China's railways to see peak of daily passenger trips
Rail passenger numbers during the National Day holiday travel rush are expected to peak on Oct. 1, with 17.5 million passenger trips, according to the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd.

The company added 1,160 extra trains around the country to meet the demand on Oct. 1, setting a new record for daily transport capacity with 10,297 trains.
The country's rail network carried 13.78 million passengers on Monday, the day before the National Day holiday, up 5.1 percent from last year.
More trains will be put into service to meet the surging demand during the National Day holiday, said the company.
