China values the freedom and safety of navigation in the South China Sea more than any other country, a spokesperson for the annual session of the top political advisory body said Thursday.

Certain countries outside the region have alleged that China threatens the freedom of navigation, which is entirely a "pseudo-proposition," Wang Guoqing, spokesperson for the fifth session of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, told a press conference.

Since China recovered the South China Sea islands following the end of World War II, there has never been a problem with the navigation freedom in the region, Wang said.
