Five Thai ministers to attend Belt and Road forum in Beijing

Five Thai ministers will attend the upcoming Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing, Thailand's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement on Monday.

The Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation will be held on May 14-15 in Beijing.

The five ministers, namely Minister of Foreign Affairs Don Pramudwinai, Minister of Transportation Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, Minister of Commerce Apiradi Tantraporn, Minister of Digital for Economy and Society Pichet Durongkaveroj and Minister of Science and Technology Atchaka Sibunruang, will attend the forum.

The Thai ministers participating in the forum will extend Thailand's support to promote complementarity between Thailand's national strategies and key policies and the Belt and Road Initiative as well as promote mutual development through the strengthening of infrastructure connectivity and win-win cooperation, the statement said.

These Thai ministers "will reiterate Thailand's readiness to be a link for the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road."

"We Thailand attaches great importance to the upcoming Belt and Road Forum, as the forum, in general, will benefit the whole world," Thai Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak said at a seminar on partnership between Thailand and China's Hong Kong and Shanghai on Belt and Road Initiative on Monday.

Somkid said the Belt and Road Initiative is becoming "the new hope" as the world is facing uncertainty and Thailand needs be integrated into the initiative to develop itself for a better future.
