President Xi Jinping holds talks with Spain's King Felipe VI

Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Spain's King Felipe VI on Friday in the Kazakh capital Astana to discuss enhancing bilateral ties.

Xi said relations with Spain are important to China and that the contribution the Spanish royal family has made to promoting steady development over the years is appreciated. 

Xi said that both should strengthen strategic guidance and align development strategies. He also said China and Spain should enhance communications and increase people to people exchanges. 

Felipe said that both countries have a long friendship and Spain is willing to work with China to push bilateral ties and cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative.
