As the host country of the forum, China will provide a broader development space for the forum while the forum should keep its foothold in Asia and serve Asia, according to the president.
The forum should gather consensus of Asia, make the voice of Asia heard, and put forward Asian proposals, thus elevating more Asian proposals into international consensus and actions and continuously improving Asia's global influence, he said.
The forum should be open and inclusive and derive development impetus from the world, Xi said.
It should also integrate the achievements of Eastern and Western civilizations, strengthen its global network of partnership and expand its circle of friends, he noted.
The president said the BFA should highlight its characteristics and create a spotlight, help promote candid exchanges and carry out brainstorm among people from various fields, to provide governments and enterprises with intellectual support.
The forum should raise more Boao proposals regarding issues primarily concerned by the international community, he added.
