Reporters explore media role in building China-Africa community of shared future

A media conference themed on 'Authenticity, sincerity, and win-win cooperation – the role of the media in building a China- Africa community of shared future' was held in Beijing on Monday, September 10, 2018.

Various reporters from China's central media groups and various media members from Africa took part in the event.

On September 3, Chinese President Xi Jinping elaborated on building a stronger China-Africa ties in a keynote speech delivered at the opening ceremony of the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

Xi called for the building of a China-Africa community with a shared future that assumes joint responsibility, pursues win-win cooperation, delivers happiness for all, enjoys cultural prosperity, ensures common security, and promotes harmony between man and nature.

Media cooperation between China and Africa plays a very important role in the cultural exchange between the peoples. The media serves as a bond and bridge that connects people from the two sides.

State Council Information Office International Contact Bureau Chief Zhang Ye said at the conference that media groups should strengthen cooperation and share positive energy in the building of a China-Africa community with a shared future.

Journalist Adim Abdalla Mohammed Abdalla from Sudan Vision spoke highly of the positive influence of the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation on the media conference. He said that the Beijing Summit attracted attention from the business and commercial fields, and that China and Africa can create prosperous economic development conditions to help each other deal with the current trade protectionism in the world.

Journalist Manuel Henriques Joao from Televisão Pública de Angola said that reporters shoulder the responsibility of communicating in a language that ordinary citizens can easily understand, so that ordinary citizens' needs can be met and contribute to the building of a China-Africa community with a shared future.
