China sends condolences over death of Vietnamese president

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Geng Shuang on Friday expressed China's deep condolences over the death of Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang.

"Comrade Tran Dai Quang was an outstanding party and State leader of Vietnam, who had made great contributions to the development, and renovation and opening-up of Vietnam, as well as deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between China and Vietnam," Geng said.

"China extends its deep grief and condolences over the unfortunate passing of President Tran Dai Quang."

Quang died of illness in Hanoi on Friday morning.
