Wang said this year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of China-U.S. diplomatic ties, noting that the past 40 years have proved that cooperation benefits both sides while confrontation only hurts both.

China is willing to work with the U.S. to advance the bilateral relationship featuring coordination, cooperation and stability in order to achieve the goals of no-conflict, no-confrontation, mutual respect and win-win cooperation, said Wang.

He expressed hope that the two sides will work together to reach a mutually beneficial and win-win agreement based on the principle of mutual respect and equal treatment.

The U.S. delegation members expressed admiration for the tremendous changes in China's economic and social development, saying they hope the U.S.-China economic and trade consultation will be a success.

The two sides also exchanged views over issues including the Korean Peninsula issue.
