Li, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said that the announcement of developing a permanent comprehensive strategic partnership during the talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Tokayev on Wednesday has defined a new historical orientation for bilateral ties.

The NPC is willing to work with the Kazakh parliament to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and play an active role in strengthening political mutual trust, aligning development strategies, maintaining policy continuity and boosting security cooperation as well as people-to-people and cultural exchanges, he said.

Li called on the two countries' legislative bodies to strengthen friendly exchanges at all levels so as to create a sound legal environment for bilateral cooperation.

Tokayev spoke highly of the remarkable achievement China has made in the past 70 years. He said that legislative cooperation is an important component of the permanent comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, expressing support for deepening cooperation between legislative bodies and strengthening all-round exchanges.
