Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying made the remarks in response to a speech by U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Christopher Ford, who said the U.S. government is formulating a strategy to address potential "security challenges" China poses to the United States and its allies.

Hua said Ford's speech disregarded the truth, arbitrarily discredited and distorted China's domestic and foreign policies, and incited the so-called "China threat," fully exposing some U.S. officials' Cold-War mentality and zero-sum game mindset.

"This is very dangerous," she added.

Noting facts speak louder than words and that people can tell right from wrong, Hua said history has proven and will continue to prove that China will continue to safeguard world peace, contribute to global development, and uphold international order, which cannot be smeared by anyone or any country.

"We urge relevant officials in the United States to abandon the Cold-War mentality and zero-sum game mindset, adopt an objective and rational view towards China and China-U.S. relations, and focus more on promoting mutually beneficial cooperation to better serve the two peoples and the people around the world," said the spokesperson.
