Children that suffer from sensory processing disorder may pose great challenges for a family.

After his only son was diagnosed with the disorder, famous rock singer Qin Yong decided to leave Black Panther, one of the best-selling hard-rock bands in China, and step down as lead singer; a position which he had held since 1994.

From 2005 onwards, Qin spent a decade at home, devoting all his energy to looking after his son with the goal of helping him to become better. More than ten years later and Qin's son, nicknamed Big Pearl by Qin, is now 18 years old and has made remarkable progress with regards to his behavioral disorder.

Qin Yong has also staged something of a strong comeback after a hiatus of more than ten years.

On top of this, Qin even made his first foray into acting as part of an upcoming movie called Nirvana. Nirvana is a movie described by The Hollywood Reporter as an appealing, watchable tragi-comedy about an aging Beijing rocker and his broken, but possibly fixable, dreams.

Somehow, Qin Yong thinks this movie, for the most part, mirrors his own life story.

As part of his tour promoting Nirvana, or Zou Chu Chen Ai (走出尘埃)in Chinese, Qin Yong sat down with CRI reporter XU Fei, to share his experience of portraying a character that hit very close to home.

Let's watch the program.
