Chinese young singer Valerie Qi Ya recently returned home after studying in New York for two months.

The singer captured the attention of many, after she won an honorary title as the most Excellent New Singer at the 2013 Chinese Music Awards.

During a recent interview with our reporter Sam Duckett, Valerie shared her learning experience as a student of Antoinette, a well-known jazz singer in New York.

She also disclosed an interesting encounter there with young talented Chinese singer-songwriter Leah Dou, pop diva Faye Wong's daughter, while in a San Francisco club. Now let's watch their conversation.
