"The adaptations of the characters and our portrayal of them, in this TV drama are quite loyal to the original novel written by the author."
The novel chronicles the feud between the Bai and Lu families in northwestern China during a time of political upheaval, spanning half a century from the twilight years of China's last imperial dynasty to the liberation in 1949.
White Deer Plain was also made into a film in 2012.
