Plum Blossom fairy tale comes to Beijing stage
A fairy tale highlighting the importance of trees and flowers in Chinese culture is set to hit the stage in Beijing soon.

It's being performed by the China National Theater for Children, and will debut on October 1.
The play, directed by Ma Yanwei, tells the story of how the lead character Plum Blossom is given the important job by the Flower God of decorating the season of winter, and doing the job well.
"In Chinese tradition, Plum Blossom is always associated with a mindset full of strong vitality in overcoming adversity and hardships. As an important theme of the play, it could prove quite inspirational for modern-day children," said Ma.
Plum blossom has a long and important history in Chinese culture, coming to represent endurance in times of hardship, and hope in the depths of Winter.
