Chinese children to continue a study of idioms in theatre

The China National Theatre for Children has created a new set of shows designed to teach children the meaning behind three well-known Chinese idioms.

The idioms are "blind imitation with ludicrous effect," or Dong-Shi-Xiao-Pin(东施效颦) in Chinese, "self-contradiction" or Zi-Xiang-Mao-Dun (自相矛盾), and "satire of someone's false display of affection" or Ye-Gong-Hao-Long (叶公好龙).

The Beijing-based theatre aims to guide children to better understand the meanings behind these idioms, including what real beauty is and how credibility weighs in one's life.

This is the fourth time for the China National Theatre for Children to interpret idioms into dramas.

The new set of idiom stories is scheduled to be put on stage by the theatre starting from October 21st.
