China's Guizhou province builds dinosaur theme park

A dinosaur-themed cultural and industrial park has begun construction in Guizhou Province.

Named China Dinosaur Island Cultural Industrial Park, it will be the first park of its kind in China and combine natural landscape and leisure, including a dinosaur museum, a water amusement park, and a Jurassic World park etc.

With a total budget of 6.2 billion yuan, or 930 million US dollars, the project is located next to the World Heritage Exhibition Center of Danxia Landform in Chishui, Guizhou.

Chishui is known as the home of the rare and endangered Cyathea spinulosa, an ancient fern that lived together with dinosaurs in the Jurassic period, or 180 million years ago.

The project is expected to be completed by 2022.
