A number of excellent films about life in Beijing have recently been aired in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
These films include The Life of a Peking Policeman, released in 1950, and a new film released just this year called A Loner. It tells stories of a lonely old lady and her pet.
The municipal authorities in Beijing have selected these films as part of a film and TV exchange program between China and Russia.
The chosen films are meant to show the changes that have been taking place in the lives of people in Beijing since the country's reform and opening-up.
