Children's play gets inspiration from Pu Song-ling's literary ghost stories
A children's play that demonstrates a simple truth, that one may live a lot happier when diligence and honesty become a priority in life, is going to land in a theatre in Beijing, opening this year's China Children's Theater Festival.
Magic Moon Grass is a Chinese folk story, written by Xu Baoqi (徐葆齐) , who recently said he got the inspiration from Pu Song-ling's literary ghost stories.

It focuses on a lazy and greedy boy who dreams to live a wealthy and happy life by gaining the magic moon grass. By contrast, his younger sister is kind and diligent.
Meanwhile, since it is a folk comedy story that takes place in the mountain of Laoshan in Shandong Province, the play has integrated local Lv opera into its 30 melodies that run throughout the drama.
Magic Moon Grass will debut on July 14, beginning this year's theatre festival. The festival brings together artists from both home and abroad to Beijing and other major cities for 61 children's theater works.
