Int'l artistic event kicks off in Beijing

The 2018 Artistic Gathering hosted by the International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People has kicked off in Beijing.

The event is an important part of the ongoing 8th China Children's Theatre Festival, which is scheduled to conclude on August 25.

It is the first time this event is being held in China in 53 years since the establishment of International Association of Theatre for Children and Young People.

Yin Xiaodong, head of the China National Theatre for Children, said the Chinese children's theater is getting more and more international recognition.

"With the overall development of Chinese children's theater in recent years, our international influence, our dramas and performances are gradually getting more and more recognition".

Besides the performances, the event also gathered more than 500 art representatives, heads of art institutions, and researchers to conduct activities, including meetings of academic exchanges and theme summer camps.
