Queen returns to Wembley Stadium for premiere of Freddie Mercury biopic

Thirty-three years after they gave their era defining performance for Live Aid, Queen returned to Wembley Stadium in London for the premiere of "Bohemian Rhapsody" - a biopic about the band's enigmatic lead singer, Freddie Mercury.

The event, which took place on Tuesday night (23OCT18), saw remaining band members Brian May and John Taylor walk the red carpet along with the actors that play them in the movie.

The film follows Mercury in the years leading up the band's memorable performance at the Live Aid charity concert at Wembley Stadium in 1985, and looks at how the singer dealt with his personal troubles and life-threatening illness.

Mercury passed away o Novembern 24, 1991 aged 45, due to complications from AIDS.

It stars Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury, Gwilym Lee as guitarist Brian May, Ben Hardy as drummer Roger Taylor and Joe Mazzello as bass player John Deacon.

"Downton Abbey" star Allen Leech, who plays Mercury's personal manager, Paul Prenter, said that Malek's portrayal for Mercury is award-worthy.

"He's brilliant and he completely transforms and becomes Freddie Mercury and anyone who watches this movie I would be amazed if they didn't come back with the same feeling".

"Bohemian Rhapsody" hits cinemas in the U.K. and Ireland on Oct. 24.
