The net worth of the writer, director, and producer of the enduring space saga was estimated at 5.4 billion U.S. dollars.
The figures on the list are Forbes' estimates based on the celebrities' known holdings of real estate, art and shares of companies both public and private, as well as other assets and estimated lifetime earnings. Reuters has not independently confirmed the figures.
Fellow filmmaker Steven Spielberg came in second with an estimated 3.7 billion U.S. dollars net worth.
The richest female celebrity was Oprah Winfrey, whose acting and media enterprises have yielded her a net worth of an estimated 2.8 billion U.S. dollars, third overall.
Positioned fourth is former-NBA star Michael Jordan, who has his sneaker company and stake in the Charlotte Hornets to thank in part for his spot on the chart with a net worth of $1.7 billion.
New to the list is Kylie Jenner whose cosmetics company has pushed her to tie Jay-Z at a net worth of $900 million.
