Beijing book fair to open on Thursday

400,000 best sellers published through last year are set to highlight this year's Beijing Book Fair, which opens on Thursday, January 10th.

International classic books, including popular novels from "The Adventures of Tintin" series, will be available for Chinese readers.

Over 200 cultural activities will also be held on the sidelines of the book fair. These will include a forum on the development of privately-owned bookstores in China, while others will be focused on intellectual property rights and services.

Organizers say they hope the annual book fair help promote the publishing industry in its exchanges with other nations, as well as with readers.
