Zac Efron to play serial killer Ted Bundy in a new movie

For his latest film, Zac Efron takes on the role of notorious real-life serial killer Ted Bundy in "Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile."

Speaking at the Sundance Film Festival, where the film premiered, the 31-year-old actor noted it's a part that is far cry from the characters he's known for.

Efron described Bundy as a "very confusing and confused individual."

"I'm perhaps known for in my work, kind of being, I guess slightly cheesy or maybe charming, some people have said. Ted was kind of, he used, he was kind of a master manipulator. And I think he's a fascinating individual. This is a great movie for a hard lesson to learn."

Co-star Lily Collins, who plays Bundy's partner Liz Kendall, says casting Efron in the role was an "exciting" choice.
