New documentary on The Beatles to be directed by Peter Jackson

Peter Jackson is making a new film on The Beatles.

Based around 55 hours of never-released footage, the documentary is a collaboration between the remaining members of the group and the "Lord of the Rings" director.

The footage was shot between January 2 -31, 1969 during group studio sessions for what became the album "Let It Be."

The announcement of the film came Wednesday (30 JANUARY 2019), the 50th anniversary of The Beatles' last performance together, which took place on the roof of Apple's Savile Row London office.
