American actor Zachary Levi is in Beijing promoting "Shazam", the latest hero to break out on the big screen from the DC universe.

He plays the adult version of Billy Batson. He explained how his character is different from other superheroes.

"I think the most prominent difference with this film and this character and franchises as opposed to all of the other incredible characters in the DC universe is that he's a child, he's 14 years old and he's a foster kid. So, you know he's basically on this mission try and find his mother, and while doing that over as many years, at 14 he's now put into a new foster home and he's trying to figure that out. So, it's a great origin story in that, you know, it's me learning all about…which you've seen a bit of. But yeah, I'm still 14 inside. So that's different than any other DC character that I know of."

Billy Batson is a boy who can transform into an adult superhero when he yells "Shazam!". Shazam is gifted with powers of superhuman strength, speed, and flight – along with a superhuman ability to make fun.

Warner Brothers' "Shazam!" will hit Chinese theaters on April 5, the same day it premieres in North America.

The studio's last superhero flick to wow Chinese audiences was the James Wan-directed "Aquaman," which made a super-sized $298 million in the country.
