The film, which hit 600 IMAX cinemas in China on Friday, is a live-action retelling of "Dumbo," an orphaned elephant calf whose oversized ears enable him to fly.

Directed by Tim Burton, the original "Dumbo" was a Walt Disney animated film which originally came out in 1941.

"Dumbo" is the first of three animated films Disney is turning into live-action films this year.
