Tim Yip, the first Chinese filmmaker to win the Oscar for "Best Art Direction," recently held an exhibition in Beijing.

A striking part of the exhibition is Lili, a robot that reflects Yip's meditation on artificial intelligence.

"As the title of this exhibition, Mirror, suggests, Lili offers us a reflection of ourselves," he said. "She is a vacuum. She contains nothing, yet if she is brought into the room, she changes the dynamic of the space around her. She is an agent of transformation."

Meanwhile, Lili propagates 'spiritual DNA,' an invisible binding force that links people all through a chain of memories to their deepest personal history.

Another part in Yip's Mirror exhibition is a costume show, with all extravagant dresses made of discarded paper or ocean garbage. He even displays a pair of shoes, like the ones worn by Lady Gaga, made out of discarded materials. According to the artist, his environmentally-friendly costume show was inspired during a period he spent by the ocean.

Tim Yip's Mirror Exhibition will run until July.
