Reynolds was joined on the red carpet by co-star Justice Smith.

"Yes, you can feel the passion and every time we walk over there," said Smith. "There is, like, screaming. I'm almost living vicariously through them because I am like screaming on the inside just because I am a huge fan of Pokemon myself. Japan is the reason I exist. My parents met here. I mean, the food here is incredible. I love Pokemon and this is the motherland of that. So it means a lot to my life."

Kathryn Newton is also in the movie.

"This movie is not just for a young crowd, it's not just for Pokemon fans, It's for everybody, it's a family film, it's funny and it will make you cry a little bit and it will make your Pokemon dreams come true," said Newton.

Based on the 2016 hit video game, "Detective Pikachu," the adventure begins when ace detective Harry Goodman goes missing.

His 21-year-old son Tim teams up with Harry's former Pokemon partner, Detective Pikachu, to find out exactly what happened.

"Pokemon: Detective Pikachu" will be released in Japan next month.
