Iconic music pieces to be auctioned by Julien's
The Hard Rock Cafe has partnered with Julien's Auctions to put memorabilia from some of music's greatest icons on the market, ranging from the last sweater Nirvana's Kurt Cobain wore to one of Prince's guitars.
"We have a really great Kurt Cobain sweater cardigan worn for a photo shoot for 'In Utero,'" said Julien's Auctions Executive director Martin Nolan. "We sold a similar cardigan that he wore in 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' for $120,000."

In order to authenticate items, Nolan says an extensive process is in place. "This is serious money now that people are spending on memorabilia. So we do a lot of research to prove photo matching the history, the provenance, where this actual sweater came from. And in fact, it was gifted from Courtney Love to the person who consigned it to this auction, so the chain of ownership, the provenance is 100 percent solid. This is an authentic sweater cardigan worn by Kurt Cobain and it will sell extremely well at the auction."
Over 600 items will be auctioned.
The auction goes public May 18.
