Disney's "Aladdin" continues to lead Chinese mainland box office

Disney's live-action "Aladdin" topped the Chinese mainland box office for a second day on Saturday after its Friday debut, according to the China Movie Data Information Network Sunday.

The film pulled in around 50.49 million yuan (about 7.32 million U.S. dollars) on the day, following a 27.37 million yuan opening day.

It was followed by live-action/animated film "Pokemon Detective Pikachu," which brought in more than 22.77 million yuan.

Coming in the third was Universal Picture's "A Dog's Journey," which earned nearly 14.72 million yuan.

The fourth one was the American monster film "Godzilla: King of the Monsters," which sold around 14.55 million yuan in presale tickets on Saturday.

The movie, a sequel to the 2014 film "Godzilla," will be released on the mainland on May 31.
