Shailene Woodley talks Meryl Streep
Shailene Woodley says her new "Big Little Lies" co-star, Meryl Streep, may be regarded as one of the greatest actresses of all time, but she doesn't act like it.
"Meryl really holds space for everything to be neutral and for everything to be equal," said Woodley. "There's no hierarchy. There's no better-than. She's just as nervous to be there as everyone else is and I think that's what makes her so brilliant."

In season two of "Big Little Lies," Streep plays the mother of Alexander Skarsgard's character, Perry. The show follows a group of women living in Monterey, California and the mystery, cover-up and secrets surrounding the death of one of their husbands.
"It's really odd what we do and how when you're an amazing artist, all of a sudden you are personally revered despite the fact that you're actually just creating a character that's fictional," said Woodley. "And Meryl is aware of that and she lives by that. I truly think she is humbled by the recognition that she receives and the awards and accolades but that's not why she does this. She does this because she loves the art of acting and story-telling and has spent a lifetime dedicated to that."
"Big Little Lies" season two premieres on Sunday on HBO.
