An exhibition reviewing the achievements of Chinese contemporary artists in 2018, put on by The China National Arts Fund, has opened in Beijing.

Exhibition's curator Zhu Qingsheng says 2018 saw over 14,000 artists showcase their work at 3,761 different contemporary art exhibitions.

Launched in 2015, Peking University's Annual of Contemporary Art of China Project records and studies the development of Chinese contemporary art, while an adjoining exhibition held each year showcases the previous year's growth and changes.

Zhou Xujun, curator of the Beijing Minsheng Art Museum, says a prominent feature of this year's exhibition is that 75 percent of the exhibits are gigantic installation works.

Due to the limited space at the museum, only 28 pieces from outstanding artists such as Wu Jian'an, an artist specializing in folk art, are on display. The exhibition will run until August 31, 2019.
