2019 Global Esports Conference opens in Shanghai
The 2019 Global Esports Conference, an influential event in the digital entertainment industry, opened in Shanghai, beginning this years' Shanghai eSports Week.

The conference focuses on industry development, system construction and new growth.
During the conference, officials issued a regulation for the construction of eSports venues, and a standard for the operation and service within the venues.
Meanwhile, the China Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference (ChinaJoy) will also be held in Shanghai.

More than 300 digital entertainment exhibitors will attend the event, including Tencent, NetEase and Giant. The event will also showcase the latest games, products and services, including over 5,000 gaming devices.
According to a report released by the chairman of the China Audio-video and Digital Publishing Association, the Chinese gaming industry reaped more than 114 billion yuan (about 16.4 billion U.S. dollars) in the first half of this year, 8.6 percent higher compared to the same time last year.
Revenue brought by the eSports gaming market was 46.5 billion yuan (about 6.7 billion U.S. dollars), 11.3 percent higher year on year.
