It was a family affair as the Beckhams stepped out at the GQ Men of the Year awards in London.

David was joined by wife Victoria and son Brooklyn as he received the Editor's Special Award at the annual event, hosted by actor Michael Sheen.

Sheen joked about Beckham's past fashion choices before the event.

"I know, it feels like he's been, you know it feels like a long time since he wore that sarong, doesn't it," he said. "That seems like a very long time ago. When was that, was that in the 90s that he did that? So he's been on the old fashion front foot for a while, isn't he? See what he turns up in tonight."

Beckham was famously photographed on holiday with his wife in 1998 wearing a sarong over his trousers.

For actress Nicole Kidman, the role of Man of the Year in her life was a no-brainer: her husband Keith Urban.

"My husband, of course, always, always my man of the year," she said. "Truly, he is such an extraordinary man and he keeps our whole family together and manages to be a great father, a great husband, and still you know work on his music with such passion and perform for his fans. So he's, he's my guy."
