A Chinese figure skating duo has capped an emotional season of injury, by winning the pairs title at the Figure Skating World Champs in Finland.

Sui Wenjing and Han Cong did not let a fall derail their hopes nor the fact they needed to exceed their personal best by nearly five points to win gold.

Sui and Han beat Germans Aliona Savchenko and Bruno Massot by nearly two points, and topped the short-program and free-skate.

The duo made the comeback after missing the autumn season due to Sui undergoing surgery on both feet.

The other Chinese pair Xiaoyu Yu and Hao Zhang placed fourth.

In other results, China's Jin Boyang finished fourth in the men's singles, with his ranking securing two Olympic spots for China at Pyeongchang next year.

In the women's singles, China's Li Xiangning placed 16th and Li Zijun placed 20th.

The competitions this year are fierce, as the results will decide the majority of quota places for the 2018 Olympic Winter Games.
