The Chinese Olympic Committee has announced that a thorough investigation will be conducted over Chinese athlete Chen Qian.

The Chinese Modern Pentathlon Association says they respect the decision made by the Court of Arbitration for Sports to annul Chen's result from the Rio Olympic Games where she finished fourth as Chen was found guilty of doping.

The Chinese Olympic Committee condemned Chen's doping offense which violated sports ethics and the Olympic spirit, saying they respect the CAS' decision and will punish those responsible for the offense.

The COC also reiterated their stance of zero-tolerance toward doping in sports.

The name of the banned drug that brought the Chinese athlete down remains unknown so far.
