Olympic champion Chen Long has been handed a surprising defeat in the final of the Australian Open in Sydney, going down to India's Kidambi Srikanth in straight sets 22-20, 21-16.

It took only 46 minutes for the Indian player to claim the title.

This was the 24-year-old's first win over Chen in six career meetings.

He is now likely to break into the top five when the latest BWF rankings are published.

China's Zheng Siwei and Chen Qingchen came back from a game down to beat a duo from Indonesia in the mixed doubles event.

This was their second Super Series title of the year.
