Venus Williams has recovered from a set down on China's Wang Qiang to win the match in 3 sets and reach the 3rd round of the Wimbledon.

Williams has been playing with a distraction as she was ruled to be at fault for causing a car collision that led to the death of a 78-year-old man.

She broke down in tears and briefly left a press conference after her opening round win.

Williams drove into an intersection to make a turn and crashed with the vehicle driven by the victim's wife in Florida last month.

Williams has not been cited or charged but the incident remains under investigation.

The only surviving Chinese singles player Peng Shuai is going into the 3rd round having powered past Carla Suarez in straight sets.

Peng is going up against Simona Halep.
