Jonathan Soriano gifted Beijing 1-0 lead in the first minute. Zheng Long almost equalized the score before the half time whistle, but his close-range shot was denied by the post.
Soriano enlarged Guoan's advantage to 2-0 in the 51st minute, after breaking through Li Xuepeng and Feng Xiaoting's defenses. The 31-year-old Spanish grabbed the first blood for Beijing's newly-promoted coach Roger Schmidt, edging the title favorite just like what Schmidt did in the Bundesliga.
The runner-up of last season Jiangsu Suning, tied Shanghai Greenland 2-2 in Nanjing city, east China. Suning led 2-0 in the first half, but Giovanni Moreno's two headers made Suning face an embarrassing record of no win in the past seven rounds.
In the other three games played on Sunday, all teams on road won. Chongqing Lifan crushed Yanbian Fude 4-0, Henan Jianye edged Hebei China Fortune 3-2, Guizhou Hengfeng beat Liaoning Shenyang Kaixin 1-0.
