Chen Lijun wins men's 62kg weightlifting gold at National Games

Chen Lijun of Hunan won the gold medal in the men's 62kg event and Li Fabin of PLA took the men's 56kg title from the weightlifting competitions at the 13th National Games in Tianjin on Saturday.

Chen, 24, lifted 148kg in snatch and 173kg in the jerk and clean for a winning total of 321kg.

"It's really a hard time for me after losing the Rio Olympics. This title is very important to boost my confidence," said Chen.

Huang Minhao of Fujian took the silver with 150kg in snatch and a top finish of 163kg in the jerk and clean for a total of 313kg. Huang Zhiyong from Jiangxi collected the bronze at 308kg.

Hours earlier, Li Fabin of PLA won the men's 56kg title which missed the Rio Olympic champion Long Qingquan who pulled out injured.

Li lifted 132kg in his third snatch attempt, and 155kg in the jerk for a total of 287kg. His teammate Wu Jingibiao of PLA clinched the silver at 283kg. Meng Cheng of Hainan took the bronze due to body weight.
