Though the Beijing 2022 Olympics will only take place in four years, souvenirs are already selling well both online and in merchandise stores, thepaper.cn reported.

Among the 140 licensed products, gold bars, stamps, and badges have been the most popular items.

The official online store started presales on December 16 and received orders worth one million yuan (157,700 USD) the first day, said the report.

The store, located on Taobao's Tmall platform, is the only franchised online store, and also the first of its kind on a third party platform in the history of the Olympics.

Some 10 offline merchandise stores have been opened since January 10, and another 15 will be opened by the end of this month.

The Beijing 2022 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games will be held in Beijing and neighboring Zhangjiakou from Feb. 4 to 20, 2022. It will be the third time China has hosted an Olympic event, following the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2014 Nanjing Youth Olympics.
