China wins three gold medals at Asian Cross Country Championships

China won three gold medals at the 14th Asian Cross Country Championships in Qingzhen on Thursday.

After a half a day of competition, Chinese Suolang Cairen clocked a time of 25 minutes and 35 seconds to win the junior men's 8km event.

Peng Jianhua finished in 38 minutes and 22 seconds to seal victory in the senior men's 12km race and Li Dan topped the senior women's 8km event with a time of 28 minutes and three seconds.

Japanese athletes took all the podium positions in the junior women's 6km race.

The 14th Asian Cross Country Championships attracted 118 athletes from eight countries and regions and featured four races.

It was the third international category A sports competition held in Guiyang.

"It is a great honor for this city to organize the Asian Cross Country Championships three years after the World Cross Country Championships," said Guizhou Sports Bureau Deputy Director Wang Jianzhong.

The deputy director added that this competition has become a favorable platform for athletes from different countries and regions to learn from each other and promote the sport of cross country running.
