Olesen finished one stroke ahead of home favourite Francesco Molinari.

This marks his fifth European Tour victory and first Rolex Series win.

Olesen also claimed his first European Tour victory in Italy, at the 2012 Sicilian Open.

"Yeah, unbelievable. Obviously been a little bit of a tough time for me this year. To come into this Rolex series and to do what I've done is amazing, especially to come from behind and win, and I haven't tried that in my career so far, so that was very special," Olesen says.

The Italian Molinari was coming off the biggest victory of his career at the BMW PGA Championship last weekend.

The 35-year-old said he gave everything in this final round.

"Yeah, I gave it my best and you know fair play to Thor, he played great today and yesterday to win it. I'm really happy the way I played today. I think the point was more than anything to try and be in contention up until the end for everyone who showed up today, and yeah the birdie run on the back nine was great," Molinari says.

Englishman Lee Slattery came in third with two strokes behind.
